Michael Vick
I guess it's time for me to weigh in on this thing since every one and their dog, well a few less dogs, have weighed in at this point.
First, before I really get on with what I have to say, I must say that I am disgusted at our priorities in this country. The importance of life is clearly distorted. Judging from the amount of outrage and publicity, the loss of life by a person of color in this country is of far less importance than the loss of life by man's best friend. Certainly that is something to stop and think about.
Now for Mike. What's this guy thinking? I know no one will learn from this but isn't it clear by now that by running in the same circles as you did when you were 18 can be the end of you. Yes I know, "keep it real" and "these guys were my friends when I had nothing." Problem is they still have nothing. These 'homeys' who were supposed to have had Mike's back rolled on him rather than do major jail time. While freedom is a big part of life, that is all they had to lose in this situation. Mike Vick on the other hand had his freedom and a lot more to lose. His career, his lifestyle, his $130 million contract and $50 million in endorsements.
All of that is gone now. His guilty plea has precipitated a storm that dwarfs the worst PR nightmare you could ever dream of. Most of all I am embarrassed, again, by one of us doing the wrong thing. I know the media always makes it worse than it is when you are a black man but damn, do you have to put yourself in the position in the first place?
That's all I got!
I'm Out!
