Maximizing Your Gifts
How do you maximize your gifts? How do you discover your destiny or passion? What is the secret? I ask because very few people figure out what their destiny or passion is. Even fewer will pursue that passion. Is it that we know what our passion or destiny is but we are afraid to pursue it?
If we follow the system, a flawed system by the way, we go to high school, then to college, then maybe a MBA, get a 9-5 and live happily ever after. No where in that system is there mention of passion, destiny or the pursuit of power or happiness. Truth is, if you follow that map then you are joining in the pursuit of another man or woman's passion.
Meanwhile, you build your financial obligations around you like a barbed wire fence so that you have no choice but to continue forward in your unfulfilling career choice. Funny thing is I am the one who know what my couple of passions in life are but have been scared to pursue fully. That has always been my problem. I hate corporate America. I know what I want to do yet I scarred to let go of my security blanket, otherwise known as a paycheck.
But the older I get the more it becomes clear to me that I am about two things, respect and power. I want to be get and give respect to those who deserve it. Corporations are filled with people who are completely incompetent (not pursuing my passion makes me incompetent) and yet I must respect them? That makes me sick to my stomach. It also impacts my performance negatively which ironically makes me one of the incompetent people in a corporation. Maybe that means that the mass incompetence in our world (especially the United States) is due to people not pursuing their dreams. That would certainly explain why so many people can come here from other countries with nothing and end up creating an empire of their own. They don't come up in our system. They just have a dream or a passion and they follow it down whatever path it takes them. More often than not that is down the path of happiness and success.
Power is simple. Chasing your dream is power. Being in control of your own destiny is power. Sure their will be times where you may compromise something but it will be for the betterment of your dream not another persons dream. My work generates millions of dollars for my company. I make less than 1% of the money my territory generates each year. Where is the power in that????? There is none. As a matter of fact the is being pimped in the biggest way. "Hey 'Ho go make a hundred dollars, bring it back to me and I will give you $1 and you will be thankful for that you understand bitch?"
Xibit said, "Power is when your no means no and your yes means yes and you can stand by your word is your balls, you lose one you lose 'em all." Not a big X fan but I love that song.
So, I know my passions. How do I take the real step? How do I jump in head first? How do I max my potential? I have told every team that I have coached over the years that in order to be successful in this game you have to "let your balls hang" and just be free. Leave your insecurities on the sideline. How do you translate that to regular life? If I can remove that baggage from my closet I can't be stopped.
Yes I know there are all of these techniques but I need to just carry out the bags. Every time someone puts them in my room I will just carry them back to the curb.
That's all I got.
