Random Political Thoughts

So George Bush even thought that Sarah Palin was under qualified to be Vice-President. In the new book "Speech-less: Tales of a White House Survivor" by Matt Latimer, Bush is quoted as saying, "This woman is being put in a position she is not even remotely prepared for." He also is quoted as saying, "What is she, the governor of Guam?"

Bush was not even close to being my favorite President but he was funny and entertaining. I'd love to have a beer with him, he seems like a fun guy. We got him sober, imagine how fun it would have been had we got the partying George W. Bush. A partying Clinton, and then a partying Bush right after might have been too much for our country.

One thing is for sure, Former President George W. Bush is certainly someone who knows about people who are under qualified for jobs!

It's one thing to write our opinions and have a little fun at the expense of some of our leaders. It is another when these people are boldly disrespectful....especially to the President. I think U.S. Rep Joe Wilson should be kicked out of the House of Representatives. Calling President Obama a 'liar' is disrespectful on its' own, but doing it in front of a national audience during a speech, sends a signal that it is OK to disrespect this Black man, even if he is President of the United States.

Even former President Jimmy Carter agrees. "I think it's based on racism," Carter said at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta. "There is an inherent feeling among many in this country that an African-American should not be president."

"Those kind of things are not just casual outcomes of a sincere debate on whether we should have a national program on health care," he said. "It's deeper than that."

“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he is African-American," Carter said.
“Racism ... still exists and I think it has bubbled up to the surface because of a belief among many white people, not just in the south but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance and grieves me and concerns me very deeply,” Carter told NBC News.

It troubles me also. At least finally some significant Whites are protesting the health care debate and whether or not it is a debate on race. It is clearly a debate on race.

The disrespect for the Presidency really troubles me. Even if you set race aside it is still an issue. President Nixon disrespected the office with his actions as did President Clinton. Someone even threw shoes at President Bush, a symbol of disrespect in that culture. What happened to that guy anyway? We never heard anything else about that guy. They might have shot him.

Joe Wilson is a punk!

That's All I Got!
I'm Out!
